Chilia Port APDM

In December 2023, the implementation of the project "Modernization and Development of Chilia Veche Port", SMIS Code 155273, was completed. The project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014–2020, Priority Axis 2 "Development of a quality, sustainable and efficient multimodal transport system," Specific Objective 2.4 "Increase in the volume of goods transited through intermodal terminals and ports." The project was carried out over a period of 34 months, from March 2021 to December 2023.

The general objective of the project was to increase the long-term competitiveness and the commercial, industrial, and tourism attractiveness of the region for investments, by capitalizing on environmental heritage, creating new employment opportunities, and improving living conditions for the population.

The specific objectives of the project were:

• Bringing the infrastructure resistance to the level required for the safe conduct of the planned activities

• Arranging port platforms and land available for operation and/or for future investments

• Rehabilitation and modernization of existing utility networks: electricity and drinking water

• Ensuring the connection between the two sites, for both goods and passengers

Beneficiary: Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, through CN APDM SA, as the concessionaire of the port infrastructure related to the investment objective.

Results achieved during the reference period:

• Rehabilitation and modernization of the Passenger Quay (km 45): 160 ml actual berthing quay, 60 ml downstream connecting quay, building of the Passenger River Station and administration (Sc = 249.35 sqm), port superstructure (external arrangements)

• Rehabilitation and modernization of the Commercial Quay (km 44): 122 ml berthing quay, port superstructure (external arrangements)
